The Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) held the Seminar on Promotion of the Spirit of Two Sessions for Hong Kong Police Force at the Central Police Station on March 21. Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (LOCPG) Mr Luo Yonggang and Vice Commissioner of the National Narcotics Control Commission Mr Tsang Wai-hung were invited to be keynote speakers. Director-General of the Police Liaison Department of the LOCPG Mr Chen Feng was the facilitator. Commissioner Siu Chak-yee, together with commissioner rank officers and more than 60 officers from Hong Kong Island Region, HKPC and staff associations attended the Seminar.
Mr Luo Yonggang highlighted the significance, achievements and important spirit of the first session of the 14th National People’s Congress and the first session of the 14th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (the Two Sessions). He pointed out that the Two Sessions comprehensively realised the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (20th NCCPC), with focuses on understanding and realising the essential speeches of President Xi Jinping; utilising the extraordinary achievements of the country over the past five years, the major deployments by the Central People’s Government (CPG) for economic and social development and the important requirements of national institutional reform; as well as CPG’s staunch support and the important deployments of the Two Sessions for Hong Kong to maintain its leading position globally. He also fully affirmed the Force’s outstanding contributions to restoring order from chaos and bringing prosperity by governing, and its full commitment to safeguarding national security and integration into the national development.
Mr Tsang Wai-hung then shared his experience and feelings in the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and briefed the officers on the functions and relationship between the 20th NCCPC and the Two Sessions. He encouraged the Force to stay prepared for potential dangers and work hard to overcome difficulties so as to assist in building a new security framework for the nation’s great rejuvenation.
Subsequently, the keynote speakers exchanged opinions with the Force members. Deputy Commissioner (National Security) Lau Chi-wai and the attendees expressed that the seminar was inspiring. They learned very much from it and would take the initiative to work proactively in their respective posts to make contributions to the overall development of the country and national security.
