Operations Hong Kong Island (HKI) conducted an inter-departmental table-top exercise codenamed CRIMEFIGHTER with the Hongkong Electric Co., Ltd. (HK Electric) on February 24. The exercise aimed to assess the effectiveness of the response plans, procedures and the interoperability of HKI and other stakeholders in handling a major incident.

The exercise simulated a series of incidents induced by a large-scale power outage in HKI during rush hour with lifelike scenarios and different kinds of ad-hoc situations necessitating instant planning and strategic deployment, in order to test the communication and coordination of the Force and the stakeholder. Participants from various formations, including HKI’s Emergency Unit, Police Tactical Unit, Traffic HKI, Central District, Western District and Railway District, joined the Exercise.

The exercise helped strengthening the officers’ interoperability in responding to emergencies to ensure the preparedness of the Force for major incidents.
