Chief Superintendent of Organised Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) Wong Wai led a nine-member delegation to visit the police departments of Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Bangkok and Chiang Mai of Thailand between February 17 and 23, with a view to understanding the local crime and policing situations, as well as forging closer working relationship with the respective police counterparts. The delegation comprised officers from OCTB, Liaison Bureau and Commercial Crime Bureau. They met the Deputy Commissioner General of the Cambodian National Police and heads of respective police departments, who briefed the delegates about the crime trend and policing development in Cambodia. Both parties interflowed deeply in various aspects, such as human trafficking, anti-deception and money laundering investigation.


Chief Inspector of the Airport District Lo Chi-lik also led 14 officers from the District Investigation Teams of various Districts to visit Bangkok between February 19 and 22 for exchanging with its police counterpart. The two delegations jointly visited various departments of the Royal Thai Police (RTP), including the Metropolitan Police Bureau of Bangkok, the Patrol and Special Operation Division and the Central Investigation Bureau. The local officers briefed the delegations on their policing structure and local crime trends, as well as showcasing the latest technology usages in policing, including the coordinated application of real time surveillance system and big data analytics for command and manpower deployment, with a view to resolving crimes promptly. The delegates, on the other hand, shared their policing experience and technology application with the RTP officers.


Crime Wing will keep exploring overseas exchange and training opportunities to enhance exchange and cooperation with the law enforcement agencies abroad for projecting the professional image of the Hong Kong Police Force.
