A delegation of six officers led by Chief Inspector of Force Escort Group (FEG) Siu Aubrey and Chief Inspector of Enforcement and Control Division of Traffic New Territories South (T NTS) Lau Chun-ho visited the Traffic Police Headquarters of the Singapore Police Force between February 20 and 23 to share experience with the local officers in escort duties, traffic enforcement and policing strategies.
During the visit, Singapore Traffic Police officers presented the local traffic situation and the officers’ duties, as well as showcasing their equipment and vehicles for operations. The delegation also visited the Traffic Police Heritage Hall to know more about their history and organisational structure. Given the similarity of Singapore and Hong Kong in terms of population, number of vehicles and rate of traffic accidents, the delegates met with the Singapore Traffic Police Special Operations Team and shared good practices in various types of enforcement operations, escort tactics and techniques. The delegates also visited the local Investigation Branch to discuss how to make use of technology to assist traffic offence investigation and prosecution. Furthermore, the delegates observed an anti-speeding operation on the highway and an anti-drunk driving operation in the town centre. They also witnessed the pursuit and arrest of a driver who tried to evade a road block.
