Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) launched the All-round CyberDefence campaign in the first quarter of this year. The support of show-biz star Mr Aaron Kwok was enlisted as he is featured in the anti-deception promotion video of the campaign with a view to raising the public's awareness on cyber pitfalls and reducing their risk of being deceived.
CyberDefenders’ Carnival cum Scameter+ Launching Ceremony
The CyberDefenders’ Carnival cum Scameter+ Launching Ceremony was held at West Kowloon Cultural District on February 18, attracting over 5 000 members of the public. The carnival featured anti-deception and cyber security-themed game booths encompassing interactive technology experience such as 5G robots, VR games and drone racing so as to raise digital citizenship in a joyful manner. Quizzes with prizes for the public were also done through Scameter+ during the launching ceremony.
Teachers’ Workshop with Education Bureau
CSTCB and the Education Bureau co-held the train-the-trainer workshop named “How to Strengthening Students’ Resilience Against Cyber Pitfall” on February 20, which attracted over 250 practitioners of youth education joining the workshop online and offline. It was introduced in the workshop how participants could bring in the digital literacy element in classes for class teachers, Computer Awareness and Citizenship, Economics and Society by using the teaching materials theming cyber deception and privacy protection.
Cyber Security Training and Exercise Programme (Cyber-STEP)
CSTCB hosted the first online Cyber Crisis Management Forum under Cyber-STEP on a virtual platform for 262 cyber security practitioners from 76 critical infrastructures between December 2022 and February 2023, with table-top and cyber range practical exercises. The participants were to undergo incident response exercise based on designed scenarios and handle the cyber crisis with concerted effort.
Cyber Attack and Defence Elite Training 2022/23 – Youth Series (CADET Youth)
The simulation challenge for CADET Youth series was held on February 11. The elites of 14 teams from tertiary institutions in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area joined the competition on the cloud platform connecting the three cyber ranges. The participating teams competed on online intelligence collection, digital forensics, case investigation and incident response in simulated cyber incidents.
Cyber Cleanliness Operation
In February 2023, CSTCB held a press conference on Operation MAGICFLAME which was jointly held with INTERPOL between February and December 2022. During the operation which targeted trojan spyware apps hosted both locally and overseas, CSTCB identified over 500 fake apps stealing personal data, and successfully detected and removed over 400 malicious servers.
