The launching ceremony of Music Launcher pilot scheme jointly organised by Mong Kok District (MKDIST) Junior Police Call (JPC) and the Hong Kong Police Band was held at the Police Officers’ Club on January 27. The scheme aims to inject positive energy into the community, bring the Force closer to the community and develop positive values among young people through music. Under the pilot scheme, 20 MKDIST JPC members from different primary and secondary schools will form the Hong Kong Police Youth Band. After completing the training, the band members will participate in a variety of activities and performances with the Police Band and help the Force link up the society and young people through music. MKDIST JPC will also organise for the band members a series of activities, including leadership training, voluntary service, Mainland exchange programmes and police work experiences.


Commissioner Siu Chak-yee, Regional Commander of Kowloon West Rupert Dover, Director of Hong Kong Police College Wong Chung-chun, District Commander of MKDIST Ng Chi-chung and Chairperson of MKDIST JPC Honorary President Council Mr Cheung Ka-ho officiated at the ceremony and communicated with around 200 attendees comprising principals, teachers, parents and students.
