The Senior Police Call (SPC), together with the Southern Medical University Alumni Association, co-organised the SPC Anti-Deception and Health Campaign 2022 at the Police Officers’ Club on December 11, 2022 to enhance the anti-deception and health awareness of the elderly. Free Chinese medicine consultation services were also provided. Nearly 500 guests and SPC members from 21 Districts attended. Among the guests were Regional Commander of Hong Kong Island (RC HKI) cum Chairperson of SPC Central Advisory Board (SPC CAB) Kwok Ka-chuen, Chief Superintendent of Public Relations Wing (PRW) cum Vice-Chairperson of SPC CAB Tsang Shuk-yin, Senior Superintendent of PRW (Community Relations) Yau Sin-man, President of the Southern Medical University Alumni Association Dr Woo Wing-cheung, SPC CAB members Mr Ngan Chi-wing, Dr Albert Wong and Prof Hui Sai-chuen, leader of the Birney’s Corps Volunteers Mr Chow Kwok-kee and representative of VolunTIER Ms Shum Chung-ngar.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, RC HKI expressed gratitude to members of the SPC CAB, the Chinese medicine practitioners of the Southern Medical University Alumni Association, members of the Birney’s Corps Volunteers and the VolunTier, officers from different Districts and SPC members for their continuous support. He also reminded the participants to stay vigilant against deceptions all the time, tell their relatives and friends to beware of deceptions and publicise SPC, with a view to giving play to the spirit of helping oneself and others.
The activities included free Chinese medicine consultation services provided by the Southern Medical University Alumni Association, fall-prevention exercises led by Prof Hui, a lecture on Mental Health under the Epidemic, as well as anti-deception games hosted by SPC Wealth Management and Anti-Investment Scam Ambassadors for members to know about the operandi modus of the latest scams. Moreover, the physical fitness challenge station reminded the participants that they should maintain physical and mental health, and constantly acquire new knowledge for making contribution to the society continuously.
