The Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Link (TKO CBL) was officially commissioned on December 11, 2022 to become the first multifunctional viaduct in Hong Kong featuring a carriageway, a footpath, a cycle track, and an observation deck. To ensure public safety in a more effective manner, District Commander (DC) of Tseung Kwan O District (TKODIST) Mak Man-yu and Acting Deputy DC of TKODIST Wong Kai-chung led frontline officers on bicycle patrol on the CBL and conducted an on-site inspection on the surrounding and the facilities on December 12, 2022. After understanding the actual operating situation of the TKO-Lam Tin Tunnel and TKO CBL, the officers would formulate policies with other stakeholders to fine-tune relevant safety procedures. Moreover, TKODIST has produced a video for frontline officers to understand clearly how to use the cycle track on the CBL as an emergency carriageway when responding to requests for assistance from the public. The video has already been uploaded to PTV for the officer’s review.

TKODIST will step up publicity within the District to raise the safety awareness of cyclists and pedestrians in a multi-pronged approach and remind them to obey traffic regulations.
