The Crime Prevention Bureau (CPB) held the Standard Crime Prevention Course between October 10 and 28, with the graduation ceremony held on the last day. The three-week course was attended by 28 trainees from CPB, Regional Crime Prevention Offices and Critical Infrastructure Security Coordination Centre. Through lectures and field trips, the trainees learned how to apply various crime prevention theories, knowledge and techniques, and gained a better understanding of relevant legislation and the latest security equipment and technology, enabling them to provide more professional crime prevention advice to the general public. As deception and technology crime are rampant nowadays, the course of this year focused on knowledge related to technology crimes and application of technology for crime prevention.
At the graduation ceremony, Chief Superintendent (Crime Support) Yu Hoi-kwan expressed her appreciation to CPB officers for their coordinating efforts to re-launch the course which had been suspended for three years, and extended her gratitude to the guest speakers and other stakeholders who made the course a fruitful one. This year, there are three new awards: Best Inspectorate Officer, Best Non-Commissioned Officer and Best Police Constable. She presented the certificates to the awardees and congratulated the trainees for completing the course. She also encouraged the trainees to pass on their professional knowledge and to integrate crime prevention knowledge into the community for reducing crime and keeping ploughing back to the community.
