The Hong Kong Police College (Police College) organised its first Chinese Drill Instructors Workshop at weekends between October 8 and 23 to provide Chinese drill training to drill instructors of youth uniformed groups and related organisations, laying a foundation for uniformed groups to adopt Chinese drill.
The six-day workshop comprised three modules - basic, advanced and thematic learning. It covered basic drill movements, parade procedures, flag raising and lowering ceremony procedures, as well as the associated instructional techniques. The 77 attending instructors came from eight uniformed groups and related organisations, namely the Auxiliary Medical Service, Civil Aid Service, Hong Kong Girl Guides Association, Hong Kong Institute of Construction, Hong Kong Road Safety Association, Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps, Junior Police Call Leader Corps and the Scout Association of Hong Kong. Through the workshop, the attendees enhanced their understanding of the spirits and techniques in Chinese drill for mastering the techniques and methodology in teaching Chinese drill so that they can appropriately apply Chinese drill in their youth activities and trainings, promoting the esprit-de-crop, discipline, perseverance and national identity.
Police College has always been committed to youth engagement programmes, and will continue organising Chinese Drill Instructors Workshops and related activities for youth uniformed groups to showcase the Force's commitment and determination in supporting community engagements.
