The Force has been adopting a proactive recruitment strategy to attract high-calibre candidates. Recruitment Division (RECDIV) launched a series of new initiatives with different recruitment strategies between September and October. They included Police University Recruitment Express (PURE), Sportsmen’s Programme for Recruitment Experience and Development (SPREAD), opening of the Police Recruitment Centre and the Thematic TV programme, which tells inspiring stories of Force officers in life-long learning - “學無止「警」的故事” – for contacting people interested in policing work with diverse backgrounds.
Police Recruitment Centre
The Police Recruitment Centre situated on 1/F of Police Headquarters was officially open on October 27. Commissioner Siu Chak-yee, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner (Management) Chow Yat-ming, officiated at ceremony.
The newly established Police Recruitment Centre adopts modern and simple elements in the design style to provide a comfortable and relaxing environment for citizens interested in police work. It offers a wide range of services to facilitate applicants, including on-site interview, written examination or interview appointment, eye-sight test, handgrip strength test, recruitment-related enquiry service, interview tips sharing, and virtual reality simulated shooting experience, etc. Police Recruitment Centre will regularly organise recruitment talks and thematic exhibitions.
PURE
To facilitate university students joining the Force, REDIV co-organised PURE with 11 local universities from September 21 to October 26 for applicants to undergo on campus selection process of Police Constable, Probationary Inspector and Auxiliary Police Constable. Alumni of the respective universities who are serving Police officers and mentors of the Police Mentorship Programme briefed the students and shared relevant information. Over 380 applications were received through PURE.
SPREAD
To better prepare athletes who are interested in joining the Force for Police selection assessments, RECDIV launched SPREAD in July 2021 with tailor-made activities to enhance their overall competitiveness for future transformation into a Police officer. On October 25, SPREAD organised a Police career talk at the Police Headquarters for 12 athletes, followed with a visit to the Emergency Unit Hong Kong Island and the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre to increase their knowledge about policing work and get prepared for joining the Force in the future.
Thematic TV Programme
RECDIV and Public Relations Wing cooperated with Hong Kong Open TV to produce Thematic TV Programme. The 4th episode of the series themes on Police Recruitment, which lively and interestingly introduces the selection process, salary and welfare of Police officers. Interviewers of RECDIV also shared useful tips to applicants.
READ
READ will be held at the Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) on November 20 under the theme of “Your Police Story”. Participants can join an interactive play to experience the stories of various Police units and duties and how they work together to protect life and property. RECDIV has also arranged experiential activities for participants to have a better understanding of the selection process and foundation training at HKPC.
