District Commander of Kwai Tsing District (KWTDIST) Tam Nga-Ching and management of KWTDIST met District Officer (Kwai Tsing) Mr Huggin Tang on September 21 to discuss ways to reinforce collaboration between government departments and raise awareness of crime prevention among the public. Crime trends in the district were discussed in depth, with a hope to build a safer Kwai Tsing community through adopting innovative approaches to enhance residents’ crime prevention awareness and heighten residents’ vigilance against the latest crime trend.
Mr Huggin Tang appreciated Operation Superclear, a series of cross-departmental operations put forward by KWTDIST to resolve a number of district management issues that had continued for a very long time. The Force, Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, Lands Department and Highways Department collaborated and carried out joint operations. In the middle of the year, the problem with obstruction in Kwai Tak Street was solved successfully. Other joint operations included clearing away more than 200 000 polyfoam boxes, combatting illicit fuelling activities and carrying out modification works for roads to tackle problems caused by abandoned vehicles and skips. The operations also significantly relieved frontline police officers’ workload by alleviating traffic congestion and obstructions on roads. Both the residents and the police were benefited.
The tangible results of Operation Superclear were summarised at the meeting, which further strengthened communication between the Force and other government departments to promote a result-oriented approach which effectively resolved community issues and enhanced crime prevention awareness through cross-departmental innovative collaborations.
