To celebrate the 73rd Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Security Bureau marshalled eight disciplined and auxiliary services under its umbrella as well as nine youth groups to host the “Together We Prosper” - Grand Parade by Disciplined Services and Youth Groups for Celebrating the 73rd Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy at Tseung Kwan O on September 24. Over 800 performers partook in this parade. Those from the Force included the Guards of Honour from the Drill and Musketry Unit of the Police College, the Police Band, the Police Dog Unit and the Junior Police Call (JPC) members.


The Chief Executive Mr Lee Ka-chiu attended the event as the Guest of Honour. Commissioner Siu Chak-yee, Deputy Commissioner (National Security) Lau Chi-wai, Deputy Commissioner (Management) Chow Yat-ming, Commandant Auxiliary Police Force Yang Joe-tsi and respective distinguished members from JPC Central Advisory Board and Leadership Institute on Narcotics were also in attendance.


The Grand Parade started with the National Flag-raising Ceremony, guests and performing units sang the National Anthem while the Government Flying Service’s helicopters saluted in the air. Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Chief Executive highlighted that it was the first joint Chinese-style drill performance since its adoption by all disciplined services. The new drill style fully embodies national sovereignty and demonstrates the firm determination of all services to stay united and safeguard the nation’s dignity.


The disciplined and auxiliary services and youth groups together presented a series of packed and marvellous performance, including a joint Chinese-style drill performance by the disciplined services, dragon and lion dance performance and military boxing demonstration by the youth groups, a music and drill performance by the Police Band, a joint law enforcement demonstration performance by respective dog units, and a joint music performance by the disciplined and auxiliary bands. All these exhilarating performances were closely connected and thoroughly enjoyed by both the audience in attendance and those watching the live broadcast.
