The Good Citizen Award (GCA) Presentation Ceremony 2021 (Phase II) was held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on August 28 to commend 40 citizens who had assisted the Force in crime fighting and upheld the rule of law. Six Good Organisations were also commended for their dedication to promoting child protection and crime prevention. The ceremony was live broadcast simultaneously on RTHK TV channel 31 and Police Facebook.
Acting Commissioner Lau Chi-wai, CEO of Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce Mr George Leung Siu-kay and Fight Crime Committee Member Mr Ngan Man-yu officiated at the ceremony. Ms Lau praised the GCA awardees for having fully demonstrated Good Citizens’ special character of “being dedicated to helping others wholeheartedly” and the Good Organisations for their commitments to preventing and fighting crimes. She also expected the Force to keep joining hands with all sectors of the community to maintain harmony and stability of our society.
It was also the first time for the Force to hold the overwhelmingly well responded GCA exhibition at Ma On Shan Plaza between August 29 and September 4. Four eye-catching figures of “Good Citizen Alliance” appeared in the photo area of the exhibition and the Force’s anti-scam mascot The Little Grape was arranged to interact with the citizens on the spot.
