The crises arising from the anti-extradition bill and the COVID-19 epidemic have posed unprecedented challenges to Hong Kong. The Force, nevertheless, has been moving forward with the general public, many of whom have expressed their gratitude by various means. To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, an internal exhibition entitled “The Pillars”, which will last nine months, is being held in the lobby hall on the 7th floor of the Police Headquarters from early September onward to record the Force’s efforts and display the citizens’ support for the Force through the exhibits.
The title of the exhibition, “The Pillars”, comes from the expression “being the pillars amidst strong currents of the Yellow River” which appeared initially in the ancient publication The Spring and Autumn Annals by Master Yan. The metaphor symbolises the commitments of the Force to maintaining justice and safeguarding Hong Kong over the past one-and-a-half centuries. The Force has worked alongside the community through thick and thin. Despite the numerous hurdles and challenges on the way, Force members hold fast to their aspiration and forge ahead fearlessly. They keep serving as the pillars for maintaining Hong Kong’s prosperity and stability.
The series of display boards in the Exhibition demonstrate the efforts made by the Force all along. Some of the mementos, cards, paintings and calligraphy donated by citizens are shown as well. All officers are welcomed.
