Auxiliary Police Constable Cypri Yu
Committed to guarding our city

Cypri Yu, with extensive experience in cybersecurity and investigating technology crime, is the founder of a firm specialised in cybersecurity and digital forensics. His firm provides professional advice for both public and private sectors on information security and risks. As a Hong Kong native, Cypri was desperately distressed by the riots in 2019. Hoping to contribute to safeguarding the rule of law, stability and security of our home-city Hong Kong, Cypri joined the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force (HKAPF) on March 8, 2021, and is currently stationed in Central District.

Cypri thinks that overcoming the physical requirements is the most challenging part for joining HKAPF. Being engaged in the internet-related industry for nearly 20 years, he lacks physical training and exercise. Fortunately, the HKAPF Headquarters arranged for him relevant training such as physical training workshops. The basic training course for HKAPF officers also helped him acquire the knowledge and skills required for policing work. He is very grateful to his family members and colleagues of the firm for their understanding and support.

Auxiliary Police Constable Carmen So
Returned to the Force after leaving for 30 years

Carmen So joined the Force 34 years ago as a secondary school leaver. Having served in the Patrol Sub-unit and Special Duties Squad of Yau Tsim District, she quit the job in 1991 to pursue her studies overseas. After returning to Hong Kong, she spent most of her time taking care of her family. In the 2019 riot, the Force was under violent attack. Having been a member of the Force, she hoped to serve the society as much as she could by joining HKAPF on June 6, 2022.

Carmen was worried about her inability to cope with the physical training. She talked about her past and physical condition with the volunteers of HKAPF, who explained to her in detail and formulated a suitable physical training plan for her. The support of her family members also allowed her to concentrate on the preparatory study and physical exercise. Carmen eventually passed the selection process and completed the HKAPF training.

With the support and encouragement from the instructors of the HKAPF during the training, Carmen challenged herself with the young trainees, which is truly unforgettable. What impressed her the most was the foot drill training, as the Chinese-style foot drill requires rigorous and precise movements to show the Force’s image. She feels honoured to have taken part in the drill.
