In view of the recent surge of deception cases, Central District (CDIST) held an anti-deception promotion day on July 26 together with the Chairperson of the District Fight Crime Committee (Central and Western District) Mr Chan Wai-chuen, Vice Chairperson Mr Lam Chun-fung, Chairperson of CDIST JPC Honorary President Council Mr Tong Tai-kam, Chairperson of CDIST SPC Honorary President Council Mr Wu Yim-chung, officers of the Regional Crime Prevention Office of Hong Kong Island (RCPO HKI), members of CDIST JPC and SPC. Through prize quizzes, visits paid to more than 100 shops and restaurants in the vicinity, distribution of promotion leaflets to personnel of property management and members of the public, it was hoped that the public can grasp the latest modus operandi of the scammers.
