Police ambassadors of Project LEGACY, together with the Police Dog Unit (PDU), officers of Animal Watchers Programme (AWP) from the Regional Crime Prevention Office of Hong Kong Island and Police Community Relations Office of Central District, paid a visit to a school in Central district to promote the message of “Protect Animals, Respect Life”.

Officers of AWP first conducted a seminar to raise the students’ awareness of animal protection and then shared with them information on keeping pets. Through demonstration and the students’ direct interaction with the police dogs, PDU allowed the teachers and students to learn about the unit’s daily work, which includes searching, drug detecting, patrolling and tracking, and to know about different species of police dogs. The event has increased the participants’ knowledge about animal protection and duties of PDU.
