To increase their knowledge about cases involving juvenile drug crime and public safety among the education and social work sectors, Kwai Tsing District (KWTDIST) held a public education seminar on anti-drug information and safe community at a secondary school in the District on June 7. Speakers from Narcotics Bureau, Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit and a youth organisation were invited to update information on drugs and explain cases of teenager drug-trafficking to enhance the attendees’ recognition of jeopardy from drugs and early identification of teenagers requiring assistance. Anti-terrorism messages, proper ways to handle dangerous chemicals and means to identify potential risks were also introduced in the seminar to enhance the capability of school staff in handling cases involving explosives, and encourage the public to report suspicious activities.


Chairman of Fight Crime Committee (Kwai Tsing District) Mr Lau Hing-wah, together with around 200 deans, principals, headmasters, school staff, social workers, laboratory technicians, parents and students from primary, secondary, tertiary schools, attended the seminar. KWTDIST will keep maintaining close collaboration with schools to share anti-crime messages through multiple channels.
