Due to the upsurge in fatal traffic accidents involving elderly pedestrians in the first half of 2022, the Road Safety Office of Traffic Kowloon East Region (T KE) made four sound tracks in May, which will be broadcast to around 260 000 elderly users successively via the “Care-on-Call Services” of the Senior Citizen Home Safety Association in the second half of 2022 to publicise messages about road safety. The contents of the sound tracks remind the elderly that they should cross the roads by means of pedestrian facilities, hold the handrails on public transport, pay attention to blind spots of large vehicles and refrain from crossing near heavy goods vehicle or in between busy traffic.
