The latest OffBeat special issue Guarding Our City with Faith - Hong Kong’s Return to the Motherland for 25 years - The Force’s Review was published on June 29. The production team and editorial board of the OffBeat special issue started preparation in mid-April this year. Around the core mission of “serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty”, ten themes were set to review how the Force served the society in different aspects in the past 25 years. The production was full of challenges, as the officers were heavily engaged in the security operations for the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, they needed to spare time to integrate a huge amount of information. Selection of materials was the biggest problem. Eventually, the officers overcame all difficulties and sifted through relevant episodes strictly to finish the special issue in a short time. With one clear step after another, every task and every moment of the Force is very important. However, the space is limited and therefore not all historical moments can be recorded. Moreover, as digital cameras were not popular years ago, the resolution of old photos was low, giving some pictures in this special issue the touch of history.
Within a few days after the publication of this special issue, over 600 members of the public have requested the print version of the book, and the relevant post on the Force’s social media platform and the digital version have recorded more than 50 000 views and 150 000 hits. The Force sincerely thanks the public for their support and affirmation.
Since the first special edition of OffBeat published in September 2020, six issues of special edition have been launched. According to its theme, each special issue was distributed to relevant establishments, such as animal clinics, youth organisations, anti-epidemic personnel, community dignitaries, local and international schools. Electronic versions of the special issues are also available for promoting information of the Force to the public.
