To raise public awareness of deception and strengthen collaboration with the community, Shatin District (STDIST) launched the anti-deception project “Shark Net” on May 12. In collaboration with the Regional Crime Prevention Office of New Territories South, STDIST held a property management seminar at Ma On Shan Police Station on the day to introduce the project to the participants. More than 40 property management representatives and security supervisors from 26 private housing estates attended the event. Chairman of District Fighting Crime Committee (Shatin District) Mr Deng Kai-rong also came to show his support.

The Project will be launched by three phases. In the first phase, latest anti-deception videos will be released through the property management offices of private housing estates. Posters will also be displayed in the estates to promote anti-deception messages. Residents can watch the videos by scanning the QR Code on the poster and forward the messages to their relatives and friends. In the second phase, officers in the Report Rooms of STDIST will provide a short anti-deception video to tertiary student informant to help them prevent scams. In the third phase, an anti-deception webpage will be established in the intranets of primary, secondary and tertiary institutions to provide a learning platform for teachers and students. The webpage will also provide relevant messages to students from the Mainland to enhance their anti-deception awareness.
