With a view to strengthening the Force’s cyber readiness for the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Information Systems Wing (ISW) conducted the Force Information Security Incident Response Drill codenamed DAZZLEROCK at the Police Headquarters on May 26. A total of 40 officers from Business Services Bureau (BSB), Communications Branch and Information Technology Branch participated in the drill.
Addressing the opening session of the Drill, Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) Kwan Chui-ching pointed out the significance of information security in the digital age. To cope with the growing digital demands and challenges, ISW hopes to enhance the capability of the Force’s internal systems in terms of emergency response and risk management for the Force to deliver secure, stable and efficient digital services within the Force and to the public through the Drill.
The Drill was a tabletop exercise simulating data breaches and various types of cyber attacks against the Force’s information and communications technology systems. Participants of the Drill performed as members of the Information and Communications Systems Incident Response Team (ICIRT) and system support teams to discuss the strategies, planning and procedures for responding to the information security incidents. The participants also shared their experience and views in tackling service disruption and restoring systems.
Before concluding the Drill, Senior Superintendent of BSB Swalikh Mohammed added that the Drill offered an excellent platform to enhance the Force’s preparedness to counter increasing cyber threats and incident response capability. It also demonstrated ISW’s commitment in supporting the Force’s digital policing strategy.
