The Regional Crime Prevention Office (RCPO) of New Territories North (NTN) has lined up with animal concern groups to initiate “Project PetFection” in this school year. The project aims to encourage and assist schools in NTN setting up pet corners to allow students more opportunities to get in touch with small animals so that youngsters’ recognition of love for animals will be developed since their childhood and the respect for life can be brought onto campus.
Affected by the fifth wave of the pandemic, face-to-face teaching was suspended and students could not join the activities in person. As such, the officers of RCPO NTN visited two animal concern groups and made topical interviews to produce video clips on adoption and training of pets. A webinar was held on April 28 for a number of primary schools. By means of the short videos, the message about love for animals was disseminated and the attendees were reminded of the duty for a responsible pet owner. The overwhelmed webinar attracted more than 700 participants comprising students and their parents.
