The Exercise and Audit Division (EADIV) of Major Incidents Bureau (MIB) ran the fifth Duty Controller Workshop (DCW) in the Police Officers’ Club between April 28 and April 29. The workshop is designed to reinforce the Regional Command and Control Centre Duty Controllers’ capability in recognising major incidents, including terrorist attacks, as well as their command and coordination skills in such incidents. The ranking of the 19 participants of the DCW ranged from Senior Inspector to Superintendent, who are either a substantive or a potential relieving Regional Command and Control Centre Duty Controller.
Officiating at the opening ceremony of the DCW, Senior Superintendent Tsang Chiu-tong stressed that duty controllers should take measures to get prepared for prompt response to major incidents, terrorist attacks or large-scale public events. Throughout the workshop, proactive sharing, interactive discussion and scenario-simulating table-top exercises were conducted to reinforce the participants’ learning experience, which covered both major incidents and terrorist attacks.
Upon completion of the workshop, Senior Superintendent Tsang Chiu-tong presented certificates to the participants. She concluded that the workshop provided an excellent opportunity for the participants to hone their command and coordination skills, strengthen their knowledge in Force procedures and boost their awareness of recognising relevant situations.
