Welfare Services Group organises outreach vaccination service at PSRC
In response to the Government’s appeal to get children and young people vaccinated, the Welfare Services Group arranged a medical institution to provide two outreach vaccination events at the Police Sports and Recreation Club on March 4 and April 2. Colleagues responded enthusiastically with a total of 280 children and adolescents vaccinated in the two events. With the concerted efforts of volunteers from the Neighborhood Volunteer Scheme and the Police Volunteer Services Corps, both events were smoothly held. Police Volunteer Services Corps even arranged volunteers to twist balloons for children in order to enliven the joyful atmosphere and to reduce their anxiety on injections.
YTDIST assists in vaccination for ethnic minority
The Government’s outreach vaccination team provided the second round of vaccination service for male and female Muslims separately at the Kowloon Masjid and Islamic Centre on April 9. Yau Tsim District (YTDIST) arranged more Pakistani Police officers and members of “Project Gemstone” to provide on-hand assistance at the Centre this time.
To cater for the needs of people with different religions, separate vaccination areas were designated for males and females in the Centre. Two female Pakistani Police Constables of YTDIST Bibi Ilham and Rani Sawera, and a female member of “Project Gemstone” Salma Bibi, were specially deployed to assist the “all-female” outreach team at the female vaccination area, while male Pakistani Police officers provided assistance to other non-ethnic Chinese individuals at the Centre.
Around 160 people were vaccinated at the event. District Commander of YTDIST Yeung Man-pun paid visit to the Centre to show support for the volunteers and officers. The organisers were grateful to the Force for providing assistance again.
