The Force’s first WeChat mini-programme for online reporting of traffic offences - “Project PROVE - Public Reporting Offences with Video Evidence”, was soft launched on April 1. Members of the public can report non-emergency traffic related offences, including dangerous driving, careless driving, failing to comply with traffic signals, traffic signs and road markings, etc. (except illegal parking) by uploading relevant video clips to “Project PROVE”. Video and photo evidence enhances enforcement efficiency, thereby serving as a deterrent effect to those with irresponsible behavior as well as ensuring road safety.
To start reporting, public can either visit the official WeChat account of the Force or scan the QR code of “Project PROVE”, and then click the “Start Report” icon to file report. Public can browse the “Reporting Guidelines” to familiarise themselves with the reporting procedures. Public can also refer to the “Report History” for progress of their submitted report. The latest road safety information is available at the “News Centre”.
The Traffic Branch Headquarters (TBHQ) is responsible for screening all submitted reports, and will refer the report with prima facie evidence to respective Regional Traffic Formation for follow up and investigation. If the information received is insufficient, TBHQ officers will notify the informant to clarify and provide additional information.
