In response to the Government’s latest anti-epidemic measures, the Composite Company, comprising 160 officers from the Police College, the Personnel Wing, the Service Quality Wing and the Information Systems Wing, has been mobilised to the Security Bureau’s anti-epidemic task force (AETF) since March 7. Members of the AETF are responsible for managing community isolation facilities (CIFs) located at the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities Island of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) and Fanling. Being the third and fourth CIFs constructed with Mainland support, the two CIFs at HZMB and Fanling provide around 750 rooms and around 2 200 beds for emergency isolation respectively, which have significantly alleviated the demand pressure for isolation beds.

With profound experience in management and operational command, members of the Composite Company are responsible for operating the command centre in the CIFs, handling the admission and check-out procedures for persons under quarantine. They also utilise their rich policing experience and high flexibility to ensure all occupants are being well taken care of by arranging meals and room sanitation and sterilisation service, taking care of the medical needs of occupants, ensuring the supply of resources as well as maintaining the facilities inside the CIFs.

In addition, AETF collaborates closely with different working counterparts including contractor’s staff of building maintenance, security and sanitation. Members of the AETF also need to work closely with a team of non-civil service contract staff which was recruited from tourism, aviation, sport coaching and other service industries, to ensure the smooth operation of CIFs in the fight against the epidemic.
