To attract more high-calibre candidates to join the Force and align the entry requirements with other disciplined services, the residency requirement for recruiting police constable, probationary inspector, and auxiliary police constable, i.e. “has lived in Hong Kong for at least seven years”, has been removed with effect from April 1. Applicants are only required to fulfil the criteria of being “a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region”.
Different recruitment activities will be organised taking into account the epidemic development. Apart from launching a new series of recruitment videos through various platforms, Recruitment Division (RECDIV) will continue to hold Recruitment Experience and Assessment Days and deploy a promotional truck “Police Mobile Recruitment Station” to connect with potential candidates. To further attract local and overseas students, RECDIV will continue to participate in the Education & Careers Expo. Outreach programmes including career talks and workshops for higher education institutions are tentatively to be held in the third and fourth quarters this year.
