Emergency Unit of Kowloon East Region (EU KE) arranged a counter-terrorism (CT) seminar for around 100 security managers and security guards from shopping malls in the Region in the fourth quarter of 2021. EU KE also conducted exercises at five shopping malls during which officers placed suspicious objects at the mall to test the vigilance and response of the frontline security guards. This reinforced the partnership between the Force and stakeholders in CT work, and boosted the alertness of security guards.

This was part of the community CT project “SMARTPAD” which aimed to enhance the responsiveness and tactics of security guards of large shopping malls in the event of terrorist attack.
