The Force has collaborated with the Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) in producing a new radio programme (晨光警聲). Starting from January 7, the programme is broadcast every Friday in “Morning Suite”, a radio programme of RTHK Radio 2, to deliver police messages to the public, covering topics on police-community relations, anti-deception, road safety and crime prevention, etc.
RTHK invited Chief Superintendent of the Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) Kwok Ka-chuen as the guest host for the first episode of the programme. He hoped that the programme could strengthen the communication between the Force and the public, deliver police messages relevant to the daily lives of citizens and encourage the public to join hands with the Force in preventing crime and deception. He also wished to enhance the transparency of policing work and citizens’ understanding of the duties of different police units.
After the first episode, four officers from different formations of the Force have taken turns to host the programme and introduce the work of various police units. The hosts are Chief Inspector of the Road Safety Unit of the Traffic Branch Headquarters (TBHQ) Chan Ka-yeung, Senior Inspector of the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre (ADCC) of the Commercial Crime Bureau Chan Wing-yee, Senior Inspector of the Financial Intelligence and Investigation Bureau (FIIB) Wong Po-ling and Inspector of the PPRB Yim Chi-kong.
The four hosts have rich policing knowledge and experience, and they feel very honoured to represent the Force to participate in the programme. They deliver police messages to citizens in a light-hearted approach to raise the public’s understanding of the Force and enhance their crime prevention and road safety awareness.
Chief Inspector of TBHQ Chan Ka-yeung
During my attachment to the frontline traffic formation, I handled several fatal traffic accidents and most of these accidents could be avoided if safety guidelines were followed. Whenever I saw the sadness of the bereaved families for losing their beloved ones and breadwinners, as well as the guilt of the offended drivers who bore the subsequent legal liability, I realised that a traffic accident could bring far-reaching negative impact. Apart from sharing road safety messages and traffic policing knowledge with the public via this programme, I wish to remind road users to be “Attentive, Patient, Law-abiding” to prevent traffic accidents.

Since I have joined the ADCC, I have been in contact with many victims of deception cases. Their experiences have motivated us to explore new ways and initiatives to prevent fraud and combat deception syndicates. Through this programme, I hope to equip the public with the necessary skill set to guard against deception, raise their anti-deception awareness and prevent them from becoming the next victim.
Senior Inspector of FIIB Wong Po-ling
During my time working in the FIIB and the Narcotics Bureau, I took part in filming anti-money laundering and anti-drugs promotional videos. Through this radio programme, I hope to spread crime prevention messages to the public, so as to prevent them from falling prey to crimes and raise their law-abiding awareness.
Inspector of PPRB Yim Chi-kong
Between 2010 and 2013, I served as the presenter of the television programme “Police Magazine”. Currently, I am the presenter of “OffBeat On Air”, an online programme of the Force. Although I have some on-screen experience, this is my first time to share police messages in the radio programme co-produced by the Force and RTHK. I am very glad to partner with the programme hosts of RTHK, whose friendliness has been instrumental in making this collaboration smooth and delightful. I will continue to deliver up-to-date police messages and anti-crime messages to the public in a lively manner.
