The Animal Watchers Programme (AWP) is committed to raising public awareness of prevention of cruelty to animals through organising public educational activities at the community level. On December 3, AWP held the launching ceremony of the “Community Mobile Classroom” publicity campaign at the Fung Kai Innovative School in Sheung Shui. At the ceremony, Commissioner Siu Chak-yee, guests and students sang the AWP’s theme song “Love Me as I Do” to express their determination to protect animals.
In order to further promote AWP to the youth and foster the message of caring for animals from an early age, “Community Mobile Classroom” publicity trucks visited 20 locations, including schools and public places, between December 3 and 16 to educate the public on the importance of reporting suspected animal cruelty cases and animal care tips. About 5 000 students and members of the public boarded the trucks to interact and take photos with the AWP spokesdogs Sunny and Zander. They also received souvenirs after completing the activities on the trucks.
