Director of Crime and Security Chow Yat-ming, Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Chan Man-tak and Chief Superintendent of the Personnel Services and Staff Relations Branch Fung Siu-lan hosted a luncheon at the Senior Officers’ Mess at the Police Headquarters on September 14 to thank retired Sergeant, Uncle Tim, for his selfless dedication and support to the Police Children’s Education Trust (PCET) over the years.
Established in 1967, PCET and the Police Education and Welfare Trust have been providing scholarships, bursaries and grants to children of regular and auxiliary police officers, to motivate them to study hard and contribute to society.
Uncle Tim joined the Force in 1953 and retired in 1988. As all his four children were former recipients of PCET, Uncle Tim was very grateful for the trust’s assistance. Uncle Tim recalled that he attached great importance to his children’s studies and had high expectations for their performance. Under his guidance, his children have achieved success in their studies and excelled in different fields of expertise. His two sons, who have become doctors with a mission to save patients, contribute to society in an unsung manner.
Being the beneficiaries of PCET, Uncle Tim and his family would like to contribute to the trust in return, so he has been making regular donations to the trust since 2014, in hope that more police children will receive financial support for their education.
