The Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) joined the 12th International Policing Forum organised by the People’s Public Security University of China (PPSUC) from September 13 to 15. Due to the pandemic, the forum was held both online and offline simultaneously. Around 170 delegates participated in the forum virtually, including officers of Hong Kong and Macao, as well as representatives from 15 countries such as Hungary, Italy, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and Vietnam.
The theme of the forum was “Modes of Policing under the Background of Global Pandemic Control”. Director of HKPC Cheung Ching was invited to give a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. She also delivered a speech at the sub-forum for police academy leaders on “Changes and trends of police education in response to the pandemic control”. Chief Inspector Elaine Law, who is seconded to the PPSUC, spoke at the sub-forum entitled “Public safety and policing in public health events and technical innovation in policing in response to the pandemic control”.
HKPC will continue to maintain close liaison with its counterparts, to explore more opportunities for collaboration and strive to become a leading centre of excellence in police training and development in the international arena.
