Police Public Relations Branch
We are Amos and Raini. This summer holiday, we participated in the Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme and completed an internship at the Media Support Division of the Police Public Relaions Branch (PPRB).
During our internship, we assisted in organising the presentation ceremony of “Good Citizen Award 2021” and publicity work. Our jobs included drafting publicity materials, translation, event planning as well as filming promotional clips and highlights of the ceremony. We felt a great sense of satisfaction when the videos were uploaded to the Force’s social media platforms. We also participated in different talks and sports events with officers to gain a better understanding of the multifaceted work of PPRB.
The officers were trusting of us and cared for us. They were generous in giving us advice. They offered us many opportunities to face different challenges so we could better understand our own strengths and weaknesses. In addition, we were impressed by their passion for their job, and they earned our respect by their professionalism. They strived for excellence and endeavoured to promote the “Good Citizen Award” in the hope of promoting the spirit of good citizens and crime prevention awareness among the public. They demonstrated the Force’s motto, “Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty”.
This internship not only deepened our understanding of police work, but also enabled us to look at the Force with a new perspective. Thank you.
Commercial Crime Bureau
We are Carina, Max, Natalie and Vanessa, university students and participants of the Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme. This summer, we were assigned to a six-week internship at the Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB).
At the beginning of the internship, officers from different CCB focus groups introduced their work to us. They also gave us an overview of commercial crimes and arranged for us to visit the Counterfeits Exhibition Room, so as to enhance our understanding of CCB and their criminal investigative work.
During our internship, we produced a two-part anti-fraud animation series to remind young people to beware of employment fraud. Furthermore, under the officers’ guidance, we assisted in producing a crime alert report to inform the banking industry of the latest modus operandi of commercial crime.
In addition, each of us completed research on a specific topic, wrote reports and presented our findings. The topics were ramp and dump scams, cryptocurrencies, corporate governance and underground banking. Whenever we encountered difficulties, the officers gave us assistance and advice. During our internship, we also joined the officers in physical training and we learnt that police officers must have strong physical fitness to face all kinds of challenges.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to CCB officers for their support and guidance during the internship programme and we have learnt a great deal from this experience. Thank you.
