The Recruitment Division (RECDIV) organised the Recruitment Experience and Assessment Day at the Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) on August 29. The event attracted 1 066 participants and 411 on-site applications. With the theme of “Progression of Police Career”, the event comprised different sections covering the selection process, the training life and the duties of new recruits upon passing out. The event aimed at enhancing the participants’ understanding of the Force, cultivating positive values and unleashing their potentials.

During the event, participants joined guided tours in groups. They participated in experiential workshops for the selection of Probationary Inspectors (PIs) and Recruit Police Constables (RPCs), visited the training facilities for PIs and RPCs and interacted with trainees. Seven police units exhibited their equipment, including the Patrol Sub-unit, the Police Tactical Unit, the Emergency Unit, the District Crime Squad, the Railway Response Team, the Police Dog Unit and the Force Escort Group. Under the guidance of physical training instructors, participants tried out test items of the physical fitness test for police recruitment. Commissioner Siu Chak-yee also attended the event to interact with the participants.

On August 7 and 14, the Auxiliary Support Bureau held the Auxiliary Recruitment and Experience Days at the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force (HKAPF) Headquarters. The events attracted 150 participants, including members from the local community, insurance industry and tourist industry, mentees of the Police Mentorship Programme and the Police Mentorship Programme Outreach, as well as friends of the trainees of the Auxiliary Undergraduate Scheme.

The events featured a variety of activities, including a briefing on the duties, enrollment requirements and training of HKAPF, a display of equipment, a resistance control demonstration, a foot drill demonstration, etc. Mock physical tests were also available for the participants to experience the physical requirements of joining HKAPF and assess their own abilities. Furthermore, serving auxiliary officers conducted a sharing session to deepen the participants’ understanding of the auxiliary police work.

The events enabled the participants to gain a better understanding of HKAPF. The participants were deeply impressed by the determination of auxiliary officers to serve the community in their spare time as well as their professionalism in maintaining law and order and upholding national security hand in hand with regular officers. During the events, a number of participants submitted application forms to join HKAPF on the spot.

RECDIV also endeavours to introduce innovative promotional initiatives. A series of videos under the theme of “Your Police Force” were launched in August, in which serving officers shared how their police career had enriched their lives. Furthermore, RECDIV aired a live broadcast programme “Police Recruitment On-air” on August 21 to interact with youngsters who have queries about police work and the selection process, and the Commissioner was invited as the honourable guest for the first episode.
