HKI Region

In order to promote the Force Strategy on Integrity Management (IM) with various units, Hong Kong Island (HKI) Regional Integrity Management Committee has implemented various initiatives to reinforce the culture of integrity management and Force values.

The Operations Wing of Hong Kong Island organised a series of thematic IM workshops entitled “Shall We STOP” this year to promote healthy lifestyle. On January 27 and August 12, Consultant of the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital Dr Wong Chi-keung and Police Clinical Psychologist of the Psychological Services Group Lai Hiu-wai were invited as guest speakers for the workshops to explain the neuropsychiatric and psychological risks as well as impacts of alcohol consumption to the chairmen of Formation Integrity Management Committees of HKI, Training and Staff Relations Officers and management at all levels. Dr Wong advised participants to avoid alcohol consumption and Ms Lai reminded officers to stay healthy. Both speakers shared their professional knowledge and case studies with officers to break the myths of alcohol consumption.

The videos of the workshops have been uploaded to the Force’s internal video sharing platform “P-TV” and will be shown to officers during the training day in the fourth quarter. Through the campaign, HKI Regional Integrity Management Committee hoped that every officer would have a better understanding on the negative impacts of alcohol consumption on their personal and working lives, thereby fostering the culture of healthy lifestyle and integrity within the Force.

Lantau District

Deputy Commander of Lantau District (LTDIST) Simon Southgate and LTDIST’s Integrity Management (IM) Ambassadors have been working on a modified version of the Force’s Four Way Values Judgment to encourage officers to make ethical and values based judgments when confronted by moral dilemmas.

The Four Tests

Front Page Test:How would you feel if your actions appeared as a front page story in tomorrow’s newspaper?

Family Member Test:How would you feel if your family members found out about your behaviour?

Role Reversal Test:How would you feel if one of your family members was on the receiving end of this behaviour?

Morning After Test:Will you regret having done this behaviour the following morning?

LTDIST’s IM Ambassadors also produced a training day package to encourage officers to apply the Four Tests, and the training materials were very well received. In addition, LTDIST’s IM Ambassadors invited officers of New Territories South (NTS) Region to take part in a competition to design IM slogans and logos to promote the Four Tests. The competition received 97 entries, and the winning entries were selected by a judging panel headed by Regional Commander of NTS (RC NTS) Mak Chin-ho. On August 19, RC NTS presented prizes and letters of appreciation to the winning teams.
