With the assistance of Regional Traffic Formations, Chief Superintendent of the Traffic Branch Headquarters (TBHQ) Au Wing-leung led officers of the Law Revision and Projects Division to conduct a demonstration of the Mobile Video Management System (MVMS) and the Strategic Map (S-Map) at the Kowloon East Higher Command (KE HICOM) on August 3.
During the demonstration, the capability of the systems in gathering traffic enforcement evidence as well as assisting the command and deployment in operations were introduced to Regional Commander of Kowloon East Lui Kam-ho and representatives from the Operations Wing of KE, Crime KE, Traffic KE, TBHQ and the Security Wing. Being the first HICOM equipped with the MVMS and S-Map, KE HICOM showcased the capability of the newly devised technology-based management systems in enhancing the efficacy of HICOM in police resources deployment.
As a measure to enhance evidence gathering for traffic enforcement and to monitor the deployment of police resources during operations, TBHQ is equipping the MVMS on police vehicles with live feed capability for Regional Command and Control Centres (RCCCs). Recently, the MVMS has also been integrated with the S-Map, which was designed by the Information Systems Wing, to allow Consoles and Supervisors to have an accurate and up-to-date overview of the deployment of police vehicles on ground. Currently, MVMS is fully operable, and all RCCCs’ Duty Controllers and Supervisors can access the MVMS via S-Map.
For further system enhancement and system expansion in view of the operational needs for the coming 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, additional funding has already been secured by TBHQ. Looking forward, the fully-fledged MVMS and S-Map systems set a milestone for the Force in harnessing technology to enhance operational efficiency.
