Between November 2020 and July 2021, the Police Training Team seconded to the Tobacco and Alcohol Control Office (TACO) of the Department of Health, conducted six rounds of training on the enforcement of the Prevention and Control of Disease (Compulsory Testing for Certain Persons) Regulation (Cap. 599J) at the Centre for Health Protection for staff members of the Auxiliary Medical Service, the Environmental Protection Department, the Social Welfare Department, the Housing Department, the TACO and the Compulsory Testing Prosecution Office. Over 300 trainees participated in the training to prepare themselves for anti-epidemic related operations.

The course covered various topics, including the legal powers conferred by Cap. 599J, the guidelines on conducting operations at restricted areas and the relevant procedures, with a view to enhancing trainees’ awareness of the law and their enforcement abilities. The course strengthened the trainees’ investigative abilities, such as the collection of evidence, keeping documentary records and adopting contingency measures under different scenarios.
