At the invitation of the Emergency Support Unit (ESU) of the Security Bureau, the Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit (ICTU) and the Critical Infrastructure Security Coordination Centre (CISCC) co-hosted an inter-departmental counter-terrorism briefing at the Central Government Offices, Tamar on June 30. Around 60 Counter-Terrorism Liaison Officers (CTLOs) from over 35 bureaux/departments and related organisations attended the briefing.
During the briefing, ESU officers explained the Hong Kong Counter-Terrorism Plan and the roles and responsibilities of CTLOs. In addition, Senior Superintendent of ICTU Leung Wai-ki gave a detailed analysis on the trend of global terrorism and the potential risk of lone-wolf terrorist attack in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, Superintendent of CISCC Lau Ko-chun talked about the collaboration between CISCC and stakeholders of critical infrastructures in Hong Kong for stepping up the security measures against terrorist attacks.
The briefing provided an inter-disciplinary platform for CTLOs to exchange their experience and expertise, thereby enhancing their communication and collaboration in counter-terrorism work as well as raising stakeholders’ counter-terrorism awareness and readiness.
