Commissioner Tang Ping-keung and the Force Management thanked the Honorary College Advisors (HCAs) for their service and contributions at the Appointment Ceremony of HCAs on June 16.
The Honorary Appointment Scheme has been launched since 2006 and the latest appointment brought the total number of HCAs to 35. It is a great honour for the Police College to have invited six new HCAs to join the Scheme, they are Professor Larry Poon of the Department of Marketing of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Programme Quality Assurance Consultant Dr Sandra Wong, Professor Wong Chi-sum of the Department of Management of CUHK, as well as former Assistant Commissioners of Police Mr Chung Siu-yeung, Ms Ho Yuen-ha and
Mr Cheuk Hau-yip. The Commissioner took this occasion to present appointment certificates to the six newly appointed HCAs as well as the seven HCAs who were reappointed upon expiry of their two-year tenure.
The Commissioner remarked that the unstinting support of the HCAs is critical to the delivery of professional training for Force members. He thanked the HCAs for their expert advice and valuable sharing in various police training programmes, highlighting that their contributions have enabled the Police College to have won several local and international awards, including the Global and Hong Kong Most Innovative Knowledge Enterprise (MIKE) Awards, the Manpower Developer Award, and the Grand Winner of HR Appreciation Awards by South China Morning Post’s Classified Post early this year.
Later this year, three HCAs will form an external panel to review the Police College’s institutional capability on quality assurance and enhancement. The panel will scrutinise the Quality Assurance Mechanism and the Internal Learning Programme Accreditation System to ensure the robustness of the internal quality assurance. The Police College will continue to strive to become a leading police training institution.
