He thanked the Chief Executive for the nomination and the State Council for the appointment. He pointed out that in the past two years the Force had experienced unprecedented challenges and he thanked the former Commissioner Tang Ping-keung for his leadership and fellow colleagues who had overcome challenge after challenge to restore Hong Kong’s stability. He also thanked the colleagues’ family members for giving them support and members of the public for their encouragement to the Force.

“In the future, I will follow the footsteps of previous Commissioners to continue to lead the Force in serving Hong Kong with honour, duty and loyalty, safeguarding national security, maintaining the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong as well as protecting the safety of citizens as our primary work priorities. We will continue to perform our day-to-day duties in a professional manner, so that every citizen of Hong Kong will understand that the Hong Kong Police Force is a dependable and professional team dedicated to serving the community,” the Commissioner said.
