With a view to facilitating the exchange of counter-terrorism (CT) information and effective monitoring of CT measures in the railway system, the Force and the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRC) have established the Railway Counter Terrorism Coordination Committee (RCTCC). RCTCC members include officers of Railway District, the Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit, the Critical Infrastructure Security Coordination Centre, the Counter Terrorism Response Unit, five Regional Emergency Units and representatives of MTRC. They will conduct quarterly meetings to exchange information on the latest global and local terrorist threats, especially threats against the railway system, and discuss CT measures to enhance the security of MTR stations.
In the first meeting held at the Kowloon East Regional Headquarters on May 13, RCTCC members discussed worldwide terrorist threats against the railway system and acceded to work together to enhance CT awareness and readiness through implementation of CT measures, training, exercises, publicity, etc. RCTCC will endeavour to seek augmentation on CT preparedness against the increasing terrorist threats in the railway system.
