On April 2, Commissioner Tang Ping-keung paid a visit to the Police Museum and guided a tour as a docent to help visitors explore the history and unique stories of the Force through the exhibition, narrowing the gap between the Force and citizens. The Commissioner also visited the Wan Chai Gap Park to engage with the public and distribute police souvenirs.
As part of the revitalisation of the Police Museum, the Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) has recently recruited nearly 70 retired and serving Force members as volunteer docents. Upon completion of training, the volunteer docents have been serving the public in the museum during weekends and public holidays since March 20.
Apart from serving as goodwill ambassadors, the volunteer docents also introduce the artefacts displayed in the museum to deepen the public’s understanding of police work and history. By this, the HKPC aims to promote the positive image of the Force and enhance the public’s trust and support in the Force.
The Police Museum will be closed for renovation in June 2021 and reopened in early March 2022.
