Commissioner Tang Ping-keung paid a visit to the Major Incidents Bureau (MIB), Operations Wing on January 14. The Commissioner, accompanied by Senior Superintendent of the MIB Yip Pun-yu, met with officers of various divisions and was briefed on the initiatives on enhancing professionalism in handling major incidents and terrorist attacks, the interoperability of police units in handling incidents, as well as operational intelligence and public engagement work.
The Commissioner then met with a cross-section of officers, during which he outlined the Force’s direction in policing and responded to questions in relation to operational and welfare issues. He expressed gratitude to MIB officers for their devotion and outstanding performance. MIB officers were delighted to meet the Commissioner and were confident that under the leadership of the Commissioner, all officers would live up to the Force’s motto of “Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty”.
On January 20, the Commissioner paid a visit to Aberdeen Police Station. Accompanied by Western District Commander Wong Siu-hing, the Commissioner was briefed on anti-burglary operations conducted by Aberdeen Division (ABDDIV) at low-rise residential areas, proven effective measures in tackling congestion at traffic black spots, the Five-day Week pilot scheme, initiatives in enhancing report room services and the latest development of the Government’s Invigorating Island South initiative.
The Commissioner also visited District Investigation Teams’ offices and met with a cross-section of officers. He expressed his heartfelt appreciation to frontlines officers for their dedication during Operation TIDERIDER and the pandemic. The Commissioner’s visit was very much welcomed and appreciated by the officers.
