The RenoSafe Scheme was launched in 2013 as a crime prevention programme to preempt building renovation crime. The scheme is spearheaded by an inter-departmental working group that involves the Force, the Home Affairs Department (HAD), the Buildings Department, the Hong Kong Housing Society, the Urban Renewal Authority, the Independent Commission Against Corruption, the Fire Services Department and the Competition Commission.

With a view to assisting owners in building management and large-scale maintenance projects, the HAD has launched the Central Platform on Building Management since 2018 to organise regular briefings for owners on building management and maintenance. At each briefing, representatives from relevant government departments and organisations provide information and introduce their relevant services and schemes on building management and maintenance. 

In view of the pandemic, Chief Inspector of Organized Crime and Triad Bureau Cheung Siu-lok conducted an online briefing for the first time on January 19 to introduce the latest development of the scheme as well as deliver crime prevention messages to the relevant owners, owners’ corporations, owners’ committees and Mutual Aid Committees.
