Commissioner Tang Ping-keung paid a visit to the Finance Wing at the Police Headquarters on October 14. The Commissioner, accompanied by Financial Controller Ms Wong Siu-king, was briefed on the financial services in supporting the Force. In addition to managing funding for the Force’s daily expenditure, coordinating the annual exercise of answers to questions of the Legislative Council Finance Committee’s special meeting on the Government’s Budget, procuring stores, uniforms, accoutrements and personal protective gear, the Finance Wing also provides forensic accounting services to the Force. The Commissioner thanked colleagues for their staunch and professional support to ensure the smooth operation of the Force all along.
When meeting with a cross-section of staff, the Commissioner explained the Force’s future direction in policing and shared some touching episodes he had with civilian staff during Operation TIDERIDER and anti-epidemic work. The Commissioner also thanked staff of the Finance Wing for their devotion to duty. The Commissioner’s visit was very much welcomed and appreciated by the officers.
On October 21, the Commissioner visited Happy Valley Police Station. Accompanied by Wan Chai District Commander Chan Sze-tat and Senior Superintendent of Traffic Hong Kong Island Yip Siu-ming, the Commissioner inspected the enhanced security measures of station defence and was briefed on the policing work of Happy Valley Division and the tackling of traffic congestion on Hong Kong Island.
During his meeting with officers, the Commissioner expressed his gratitude to frontline officers for their dedication during Operation TIDERIDER and the COVID-19 outbreak, which fully demonstrated the spirit of “Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty”. The Commissioner also encouraged officers to continue to discharge their daily duties with professionalism, garner public support and maintain public confidence in the Force.
