The Command Courses run by the Police College, which were suspended due to operational commitment and the epidemic, has resumed by phases since August. The first Junior Command Course (JCC) in 2020 was successfully completed on September 2 with the participation of a total of 20 Inspectors or Senior Inspectors from different major formations.
Director of Personnel and Training Li Kin-fai expressed gratitude to the JCC trainees for their professionalism, dedication and resilience displayed in leading frontline officers to steadfastly safeguard the rule of law and stability of Hong Kong. He also encouraged the trainees to apply what they learnt from the course and to embrace the challenges ahead.
The Police College offers three Command Courses, namely the JCC for Inspectors or Senior Inspectors with three years of service or above, Intermediate Command Course (ICC) for Chief Inspector promotees as well as Senior Command Course (SCC) for Superintendent promotees, each with different training objectives. The JCC focuses on enhancing the vocational competency of trainees and certain topics related to social incidents have been incorporated into the course to cater for the imminent training needs, such as media training; trend of technology crime; experience sharing on Operation TIDERIDER by serving, retired and injured officers; and skills of handling social cleavages and stress management, etc. A visit to the District Operations Room of Mong Kok District, which played a vital role in handling riots in the district, was also arranged for the participants. The resumption of ICC and SCC is also in the pipeline.
