The Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) resumed its youth training programmes following the gradual reopening of the government’s recreational facilities. A kick-off programme — an overnight Junior Police Call (JPC) Training Camp was organised by the Community Relations Bureau of PPRB between October 3 and 4.

The training aimed to equip JPC members with the leadership prerequisite to progress towards “JPC Leader” under the JPC Scheme. Since JPC@Pat Heung has been converted as a quarantine centre, the training venue was changed to the Man Yee Activity and Training Centre in Sai Kung. A total of 51 JPC members, aged between 6 and 12, participated in the training which comprised team-building activities, outdoor physical training and practical camping skills training. Chief Superintendent of PPRB Kwok Ka-chuen, who is also an ex-JPC member, was invited to share his JPC journey and memories to strengthen participants’ sense of belonging to the JPC Scheme.

As the training was the first activity conducted under the COVID-19 epidemic, all the training equipment, tents and training venue were thoroughly disinfected with anti-septic coating by a qualified contractor beforehand. On the other hand, a series of infection control and contact precautionary measures were adopted for both the staff and participants to reduce the risk of virus transmission.

Upon the conclusion of training, both the participants and their parents highly appreciated the programme’s effectiveness in building up teamwork, resilience and positivity in youth.
