In view of an upsurge in the number of telephone deception cases and technology crimes in recent months, the Police Community Relations Office of Shatin District (PCRO STDIST), in collaboration with the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau and the Police Public Relations Branch, produced two animations on the themes of online shopping scams and telephone deception. The animations were broadcast at lobbies of public housing estates, Social Security Field Units of the Social Welfare Department, hospitals, clinics and tertiary institutions across the city.

PCRO STDIST also put up crime prevention posters at lobbies and public areas of public and private housing estates, villages and single-block buildings, so as to remind residents not to fall prey to scams.

Villagers are reminded to beware of deception.
